Welcome to LHS Dr Plassmann!

Dr Shyamoli Plassmann is one new addition to the LHS staff.  After teaching at various levels all over the country, Plassman has come to LHS to teach juniors and seniors in physics.

Plassman has a highly interesting past, from her own schooling to her career.  She got her PHD in physics from Cornell University.  After which, she spent the next few years working as an assistant professor on the tenure track at CU Boulder.  She then taught at Penn State for five years.

After Plassman developed a chronic immunal disease, she switched to working from home as a theoretical physicist.  As the arthritis went into remission, she began to work as a high school teacher in New Jersey.  A few years later, she moved to Colorado to be around her kids and began to teach in Aurora.  After three years there, she joined the LHS staff.

Plassman’s hobbies include being an environmentalist; reading nonfiction and history books; hiking; gardening; and, since moving to Colorado, snowshoeing.  A surprising fact about Plassman was she was a semi-professional choral singer during her 7 years living in New Jersey.

Plassman is glad to say that she’s felt very supported by the staff and community of LHS.

“I just love the students here at Littleton High School and must say it’s been a very rewarding experience teaching them.  And I have high hopes for my AP Physics students.  I hope they really get through the exam with flying colors.  And I love LHS,” said Plassman.
