Today, we had an Activities Fair during Seminar, and we had tables up for all of our clubs here at LHS. These clubs include DECA, FBLA, Environmental Club, Mountain Biking Club, Thespians, and more! I talked to people from lots of the tables, and they all were showing their school spirit and love for their club. However, there have been some concerns about this activity fair. Is it necessary? Is it helpful for gaining members?

So I went and interviewed a few people from the fair, and here’s what they had to say: A member from DECA said, “The fair is really helpful to the club, but we should move it earlier in the year, because if they join DECA now, they can’t compete. So I think if we did it in like August, I think it would be better and easier for other clubs, too.” A representative of FCCLA added, “I think it is very good for the club, and people can join in and be a part of our activities! And it adds to our member numbers.” When asked if the time of the fair in this school year was a good idea, people responded with most of the same, “I think if it were earlier, people would feel like they had more of a chance to join.”

However, this fair was a good way to show how excited and committed people are to their clubs. When asked, people all had amazing things to share about their clubs! The Environmental Club talked about how they love getting together and sharing ideas about saving the planet, and FBLA was very excited, telling us all about their club and why we should join. The fair was full of clubs convincing you to join; I mean, several booths had me sold on joining! The whole consensus from the members of these amazing clubs is simply to push the fair back to being earlier in the year. What do you think?
