Jolie Frost: Thescon’s Best Short Film Director

Many of LHS’ very own Thespians went to Thescon, to explore more of what they do and to put themselves out there by performing or presenting to judges. Jolie Frost was one of these students: she submitted her short film and won the Best Director award for it!

“It’s pretty crazy. I wasn’t expecting it at all,” said Frost

She only just started making these films, beginning this hobby during the previous summer. Frost had been dabbling in filmmaking her whole life, but had never thought about anything this prestigious. For context, there were 42 films submitted to compete for the awards. 4 awards were available to win: Best Overall, Best Editing, Best Animation, and, of course, Best Director, so it was a big deal to win.

“I didn’t have one of those hobbies growing up where it was like, this is what I’m doing for the rest of my life. So I was never in gymnastics, and I was like, I am never going to the Olympics,” said Frost.

In the end, Frost is a great example of learning more about the things she loves, and turning them from dreams to realities.

“I mean, I’ve poured my blood, sweat, tears, all that fun stuff into the movie, so it feels pretty awesome to have that recognized!” said Frost.
