This week, on Wednesday the 14th, the LHS Boys and Girls Wrestling teams had a match against Denver North High School. In spite of hard-fought matches, both teams ended with losses. The boys’ team ended with a score of 15-58, and the girls’ with a score of 18-39.

There were many good matches, including the bouts with Christian May, Wren Freeman, and Mimi Boone. After a long, drawn-out match, Mimi ended up losing her weight class match. Following that match, she said that it was a good learning moment, and she could always find ways to get better. “Some things I need to learn from my matches are to keep a better mindset, I mean, I really got in my head there, but I’m really just here to have fun!” Mimi has been competing for all 4 years of highschool, and she is an amazing wrestler to watch.

Wren and Christian both won their matches, and they both were feeling very positive about them afterwards. “I feel really good, I gotta work on some things, but we improved,” said Freeman. May said, “I hit some of the moves I wanted to hit, it felt pretty easy,” and overall he was proud of his match. These players have expressed their love for the team and the bond that they have all had with each other. We can’t wait to see what our Lion’s Wrestling program does next!
Their next match is this Friday in Conifer. Let’s go Lions!
