Next week, from March 2nd-5th, is Spread the Word Week. For four days, we will be celebrating and honoring our Unified program. This week is also about spreading awareness of the R slur. The R slur has become a derogatory and bigoted term against disabled people, and should never be used regardless of intent, especially if you don’t know the person you used it against is disabled or not. Littleton High School touts a diverse and inclusive environment, with a great emphasis and care for our Unified partners. Multiple classes have collaborated with Unified, and the school’s Unified Sports program is impressive and full of passionate and hardworking students. Spread the Word is a week where we should properly care and rejoice in our Unified partners, and for Spread the Word Week, every day has a distinct theme to further the message of Spread the Word: inclusivity and sensitivity around the words we use.
This year, the themes for Spread the Word Week are:
Monday- Pajama Day
Tuesday- Inside out Day (wear all your clothing inside out)
Wednesday- Unified Shirt Day
Thursday- Disney Day
Please wear the proper wear to show support for LHS Unified students. On Wednesday during A/B Lunch near the cafeteria, there will be a table where you can pledge your support for the Unified program! There will be bracelets and t-shirts at the table. Go attend unified events or join the Unified Club, and advocate for our Unified program!
