Saturday April 11th, the LHS track team celebrated their seniors in the morning at the Lions Classic Invitational! Before the start of the first track event, seniors Stella Begly, Nick Beitel, Sophia Bradley, Hank Chojnacki, Jenna Ellquist, Autumn Fann, Axel Fontaine, Klara Fortna, Eileen Hanley, Ryker Harris, Alex Herrera, Katie Hildebrand, Rowan Ingraham, Olivia Kohler, Hanan Lenz, Jack Lisco, Daniel Long, Gabe Menard, Mo Pannier, Reese Reynolds, Emma Roskelley, Nicholas Stubner, Annika Stutzman, and Enna Swackhamer were all recognized for their accomplishments on the team.
After the senior recognition ceremony, the Lions had a great showing at the meet with both the boys and girls finishing 9th in scoring against many 5A teams!
The relays started out with a 5th place finish for the Girls 4 x 800 m relay of junior Ainsley Baker, freshman Lucia Bovo, senior Alex Herrera, and sophomore Sophie Bailey and then a 2nd place finish for Boys 4 x 800 m Relay of senior Axel Fontaine, senior Nick Stubner, junior Louge Stewart, and junior Jonas Fontaine. Later on in the meet, the Girls 4 x 200 m relay of freshman Sonrise Merrill, sophomore Wren Freeman, sophomore Josie Wallrath, and senior Stella Begly got 6th, and the Boys 4 x 200 m relay of senior Daniel Long, sophomore Max McKeegan, sophomore Kolt Allgeier, and senior Jack Lisco got 6th. Then to wrap things up, the Girls 4 x 400 m relay of Begly, Bovo, Bailey, and Wallrath got 6th and the Boys 4 x 400 m relay of Allgeier, A. Fontaine, J. Fontaine, and Lisco got 4th.
There were also outstanding individual performances by our seniors, including Begly who finished 2nd in the 100 m Hurdles and 1st in the 300 m Hurdles, Lisco who finished 11th in the 100 m dash and 5th in the 200 m dash, Ryker Harris who got 3rd in shot put and 6th in Discus, Jenna Ellquist who got 10th in shot put and 16th in discus, Sophia Bradley who got 10th in girls pole vault, and Long who got 6th in boys pole vault. Other outstanding performances were by Merrill in the 200 m dash in which she got 8th in.
