This week, on Friday and Saturday, at the Arvada Aquatic Center, the LHS boys swim team competed at the League Championship. And they blew the competition out of the water, winning by over 200 points!
The season has been very successful for the boys’ team this year. During it, they became Windsor Wizard invite Champions: back-to-back winners of the Cheyenne Mountain HS Invite, Littleton HS LCQ Champions, and now back-to-back-to-back Jeffco League Champions. This season, they have had 6 wins to 1 loss in dual meets and have had 16 individual State Qualifiers.

Some notable athletes from League were senior Kiernan Luther, senior Brennan Williams, junior Ryan Newton, and junior Austin Hughes. The team has had amazing spirit throughout the season, and they are all very proud of their accomplishments.
When asked, Brennan Williams said, “Overall, the team did really well. We had several new state qualifiers and absolutely smoked the competition!” The team is a contender for a top 3 finish at the State Championship next week. Ryan Newton remarked, “We have built this bond to where we are one of the strongest teams in the league, not just off swimming talent, but being able to cheer for team ambers and support them.”

When asked about what difficulties the team faced, Newton talked about how the team had had some ups and downs with sicknesses, but that didn’t stop them from putting their best foot forward with each meet they faced.
This win at League will catapult them into a great spot for State and give them a higher chance of winning it. Overall, it was an amazing meet for everyone, and we can’t wait to see how they compete at State next week!
