Spider-Man: Brand New Day, one of the most anticipated new movie releases of the year, has already broken many records after its release on July 31st. It has become the fastest domestic picture to pass $700 million at the box office, and ranks Number 10 on the highest grossing films internationally (The Hollywood Reporter, 2026).
So, why is this film so loved internationally? Not only does this third Spiderman film feature the fan favorite couple, Tom Holland and Zendaya, but it also has been filmed with the most cutting edge technology, Panavision cameras. The cinematography was striking, and many moments in the film left audience members speechless. For example, one scene shows Spider-Man flying through the streets of New York City before zooming in on the same scene but through his eyes. Not only were the filming and acting both incredible, but the movie’s story was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.
The movie picks up at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home where the world has forgotten about Peter Parker, after it was revealed that he was Spider-Man to all of New York City. Peter has to learn how to navigate living in his own reality, where he has no one to rely on: no family or friends. He tries to communicate with his best friend Ned and his old girlfriend MJ, but everytime he goes to deliver the letter he has written about what happened he gets scared and leaves them.
He then spends four years protecting the city anonymously and defeats many famous criminals, where he befriends police detective Jean DeWoff. He then has to defend the Department of Damage Control from an unknown villain who is possessing society with telepathic powers. The addition of one of the X-Men, Jean Grey, shocked fans, but you’ll have to see the movie to see why.
As many fans agree, this movie is one million percent worth the watch. Not only is going to a movie theatre always fun, but dressing up and being spirited to watch the movie is a great time too. Millions of people have entered the theatre in all of their spiderman gear, enjoying the movie with their own Spider-Man flair. A good recommendation before seeing this movie is to study up on the previous movies in the Marvel franchise, or at least the other two Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Whether you are a die-hard Marvel fan or enjoy the occasional movie, I totally recommend watching Brand New Day.
