On Friday, October 16, LHS Cross Country competed at the 2026 Jeffco League Championships. After it was delayed two days due to weather, the Lions finally competed, with the Varsity Boys finishing 7th and Varsity Girls finishing 6th in team scoring.
On the boys side, the top performer was senior Tyler West who placed 14th with a time of 17:13.10. Following West was senior Milo Vanmatre who finished 22nd, senior Zander Davis who finished 36th, Senior Louge Stewart who finished 37th, junior Micah Hosie who finished 54th, senior Leo Ellcessor who finished 65th, and senior Levi Flanagan who finished 66th.
On the girls’ side, the top performers were junior Sophia Bailey, who finished 14th with a time of 20:35.13, and Sophomore Lucia Bovo, who finished 16th with a time of 20:57.72. Following Bailey and Bovo was junior Gillian Glover, who finished 28th, senior Ainsley Baker who finished 30th, senior Sarah Nazarenus, who finished 35th, and senior Ella Chase, who finished 61st.
Even though both teams didn’t finish as high as they have had in the past, the lineup was messed up due to the race being unexpectedly rescheduled during LHS’ fall break, which took some runners out of the race.
LHS Cross Country will compete next at regionals Thursday October 22 in Colorado Springs where they will be looking to send some runners to state!
