A Spotlight on Senior Overalls

Senior Overalls are one of the most treasured traditions of Littleton High School. Each year, the Senior class purchases white overalls. Every student dedicates time to paint, bedazzle, and customize them. It is a wonderful way to showcase the individuality, creativity and artistic talents of our students. Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the overalls this year, and all of the thoughtful details put into them!

Many people have overalls with sentimental messages, especially relating to family members. Klara Fortna, for example, rewears her sister’s (who was a former LHS graduate) overalls. She has added her own personal touches, of course, but it is an endearing homage to her family’s history here at LHS.

Alex Herrera selected some familial designs as well, decorating their overalls with a lacy doily gifted by her mom. Along with the doily, they have a number of other lovely designs. “All of these are symbols for things I am involved in. I have the track, music notes, and theatre. This back part is made with the Track t-shirt, and this measuring tape is from Ms. Fisher, because she said to ‘Measure your growth,’” said Herrera. To make their overalls, they cut out a diamond shape of the Track & Field events list T-Shirt, sewing it onto the back. Braided ribbons travel down the legs, along with a yellow measuring tape inspired by Ms. Fisher’s quote.

Maggie Menard went the more fanciful route, adorning hers with hand-painted designs from movies that she absolutely loves. “This is Toothless, and this is from Tangled!” said Menard with a bright smile.

Jenna Ellquist, who is very involved in the Visual Arts, went all out for hers. Bits of dark lace along with striking black and red designs contributed to the more edgy look. “I’ve got a Lion, a scorpion, some dice for luck, this bowler lady for my dad, and this lady bug for my mom. And a shark, because I think sharks are cool,” said Ellquist. “I do track, so I’ve got this track symbol. I also have this sun and moon, because it was sick. A clover for luck, a bee for my best friend, mermaids, a snake…” The list goes on. Clearly, a ton of thought and effort were put into these fantastic overalls.

The Senior class truly went all out with the overalls this year. Let’s keep this fun-filled tradition going!
