On Saturday, the Broncos beat the Bills 33 to 30 in overtime to go to the AFC championship, but an hour after the game head coach Sean Payton announced that Bo Nix fractured his ankle on the second to last play of the game. Nix had surgery on Tuesday and he will miss the rest of the season. The Broncos said Jarrett Stidham will take over for the AFC championship against the Patriots on Sunday.
Jarrett Stidham was drafted by the Patriots in 2019. He was supposed to take over for Tom Brady after he left for Tampa Bay, but the Patriots decided to pivot and go with Mac Jones instead.
Stidham is one of the premier backup Quarterbacks in the NFL. He has had opportunities to go and start on teams like the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns. This is Stidham’s 5th career start, but Broncos fans are optimistic, as the Broncos have one of the best defenses in the NFL.
