In a decision released at 10 am this morning, Littleton Public Schools has announced that tomorrow, Thursday the 22nd of December, school is canceled due to weather concerns. The decision comes just hours after Cherry Creek Public Schools announced the same choice.
As of 10:40 on Wednesday, Thursday’s forecast is a projected high of 2 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of -6 degrees Fahrenheit, dropping approximately 50 degrees in the span of 12 hours.
The district has said that the predicted freezing temperatures would threaten the safety of students waiting for the buses. They also noted that buses are likely to not start due to the cold, and that school building operations, such as plumbing and heating, may struggle to combat the below-freezing temperatures.
Finals scheduled for Thursday will now take place on Tuesday, January 10th, allowing students to study over winter break.
