Recently, the Newspaper staff took time to rank some apple cider varieties, and taste tested them all to tell the school which ones were best. Here are the results:
Taking fourth place is the Kroger brand apple cider. Though the apple cider was good, it had more of an artificial taste than an organic one, so it makes sense that it may be at the bottom for this ranking. Most students ranked this one at 3 stars, giving it an average 3.08 star rating in the book. As somebody that tried it, it was an okay taste for apple cider, especially compared to the ones up next.
The third place winner was Big B’s Spiced Cider. This cider is different from the last one because it had a little bit of a “twang” to it. It has a fall flavor because of the cinnamon, cloves, and Allspice they put in their cider. Though this may sound really good, it can be strong to certain taste buds, so this is why it is lower on the list. The flavor is one of those that really occurs as an aftertaste, which makes every sip worth it.
The runner up is the Big B’s Harvest Apple Cider. This apple cider is the same concept as the Kroger brand one, but this one was voted the better of the 2. This cider is like the spiced one but there was no extra flavor. The way to describe this one is almost like you are tasting it fresh from the farm, and the only ingredient is apple. This apple cider had the same 3.75 star rating as the spiced one, but it got more 4 star reviews than 3 star reviews, unlike the spiced one.
Finally, the most adored apple cider was the Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider! This apple cider has a bubbly accent to it, which makes it have an extra taste factor that doesn’t really change the flavor of the drink. This cider got mostly 5 stars, which helps prove the point. This one was my personal favorite, but it makes sense that the bubbly part may not be everyone’s jam.
Overall, the staff had a really fun time trying all of the different flavors and types of apple cider! Based on these reviews, maybe give one of these you haven’t had a try. They were all very flavorful and rich, so don’t be scared to give them a chance. Happy tasting!
