Edward Chip: how two LHS students took an elementary narrative to a published book

Kaiden Hamilton and Quinn Ellis, two juniors, have released their own book which debuted on September 30th. The book is targeted at advanced elementary school to early middle school students. It’s an easy read and a lot of humor is written for that demographic.

The two have had to go through the entire book publishing process, from creating the concept, writing, illustrating, and finding a professional editor.

“It was very, very annoying and took forever. The hardest part was finding a professional editor and interviewing them over Zoom. It was weird since I’m seventeen and literally hiring grown adults for a job,” said Kaiden.

Quinn and Kaiden’s idea came from a simple elementary school assignment. They had to write a narrative and used the same characters for it who were based on a second-grade friend’s love for cookies.

“Years later, we rediscovered it during COVID and combined our stories and continued it,” said Quinn. “We turned it into our sophomore personal project and finished it.”

They both agreed that it was fun, being written in several different phases.

Edward Chip can be found on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other platforms.
