On Wednesday morning, President of the United States Donald Trump signed a bill to end the government shutdown. The bill was passed by the House of Representatives with a 222-209 vote, and the Senate passed the bill on Monday, November 10, 2025.
This was the longest shutdown in US history, with 43 days, and it had started October 1st and ended on Wednesday. It was the 11th government shutdown, Trump’s second as President.
Almost every Republican and a few Democrats supported the legislation. The legislation will fund the government through January 30, 2026, and provide funding for some government agencies for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Airport travels will still take time to go back to normal, and food snaps coming back will vary by state.
