The football players prepare for the big game

Football wins first game of season, sets precedent

The 26th marked the first game of the 2022 Lions’ football season! The turnout was very impressive, and school spirit was high. The student section cheered throughout the entire game, and many students wore white as the game’s theme was “white-out”.

The football team matched the audience’s high energy and played a hard-fought game! Their opponent for tonight was Sierra highschool. Sierra was up 8-0 by the end of the half, but the Lions came back in the second half and beat Sierra 12-8.

Senior Timmy Higgins reflects on the game, “I feel good about the win, I do think we could’ve, and should’ve done a lot better against a smaller team like Sierra, and it showed us that we have a lot to work on.”

Expectations are high for the football team this year, and attendance was increased compared to the past several years. Quarterback Timmy Higgins, a senior, commented on the potential of this season.

“I am more than excited for this season and for the future of our football program, we are getting a lot of new players and after we have a good season the outlook on the football team will start to change!”

This game was a great way to start the season, and hopefully, the football team can keep up this high energy throughout the rest of the fall!
