Jaded by Major Motion Picture: a review and exclusive interview

Jaded by Major Motion Picture, a band involving several Littleton students officially released their extended play (EP) on streaming services. An EP is longer than a single but shorter than an album, and it is less costly for the band to produce it. The band originally was under the name Das Fuz but has completely redesigned its brand. The EP was also followed by a celebratory performance at Lincoln Park Station.

Jaded is a rock-inspired EP with a 2000’s guitar sound mixed with mature vocals unexpected of a high school student provided by lead singer/guitarist Jonesy Bones (Sam Bensaid). Ian Flanagan plays drums, John Keran plays lead guitar, Asher Morrisoe plays guitar and is also a lead singer, and Holden Williams plays bass guitar.

The entire EP showcases the band’s talent and hard work in creating 5 original songs. For those who prefer a gritty guitar sound, String Me Up or I Wont Stop Talking and Box are right up your alley. Pout and Honeybee (a cover by Steam Powered Giraffe) contrast those songs by providing a smooth and relaxed sound. My personal must-adds from the EP are Pout and You Won’t Be Missed.

“This is the first EP I’ve ever dropped. It’s huge for me because it’s my childhood dream to be in a famous band, so this is a huge step for me,” Bones says.

At Lincoln Station on the 5th of November, Major Motion Picture performed songs from their EP, as well as some other covers. It was mainly to celebrate the release of the EP, but they also previewed some of their songs that are not yet released. One of their more popular songs, Slugger, had the crowd full of energy and even singing along.

“I had a moment during Slugger where the audience was singing along to every word and I was just shocked and so happy to see people loving what I love so much,” Williams says.

“It was crazy to see people come together to our music and love what we put so much work into. It made me realize that people actually enjoy our music,” says Keran.

Major Motion Picture has a second EP in the coming months as well. The band plans to perform in Battle of the Bands at UCCS on November 17th.
