LHS Boys Cross Country Team shines this season

The LHS Boys Cross Country Team has been so good this season. I talked to the top five boys to get an idea about LHS Cross Country: seniors Hank Chojnacki, Axel Fontaine, and Rowan Ingraham, and juniors Tyler West and Jonas Fontaine.

The ideal weather for a cross-country meet is warm but not too warm, and maybe a little breeze. West said he hopes that the State competition isn’t “as cold as it was the past few years.”

The team practices every day, except the week leading up to the last meet. The boys all talked about warm-ups. Chojnacki talked about how he likes the warm-up for races. “I really like walking one mile of course, and then running the last two, and then warming up about 30 minutes before we race with our dynamic stretches,” he said.

Regionals is the same course as League meets. “There are some hills that really make it a difficult race,” said Ingraham.

Next up, the boys will compete at State. J. Fontaine said, “Hopefully we’ll win State, and we’ll get some medals, and then a really big trophy.”

His brother A. Fontaine agrees that he wants to win, but he also added, “State is hard, and it’s also a lot of fast people, so I hope that we can have a good race.”

Regardless of whether or not they win the big trophy at State, the boys have had a very successful cross country season!
