Lions soccer senior night ends in celebration after a big time victory against Pomona Panthers

At 6:30 pm on October 14, 2026, the LHS Lions faced off against the Pomona Panthers in an intense fight for the win. The Lions won big time with a final score of 11-1.

Our Lions were especially reared up and ready to play, as it was senior night for the team. The game was a constant back and forth, with both teams scoring free kicks, and both defending their posts well.

The first goal to break the back and forth was a goal scored by LHS senior Dylan Santos. Passing by the Panthers’ defense and kicking a straight shot into the net, Santos began the streak of goals seen by the Lions throughout the game.

The play continued to be fierce throughout the first half, with LHS scoring two more goals shortly before halftime.

The seniors truly shone throughout the game, especially senior Andrey Polita, who scored four of the eight goals clocked across the second half of the match.

“I made the run over there, and I catch them in it, and I scored,” Polita says regarding his best play of the game, a hat trick turned goal for the Lions.

Peereboom kicks the ball back into the field after amazing save

Polita’s goals weren’t the only focus of the match, however. The Lions showed great teamwork through their great play, allowing seniors Aaron Rosales, Dylan Santos, and Justin Nguyen to clock the remaining four goals of the second half. While LHS’ seniors absolutely dominated the field, goalkeeper junior Owen Peereboom was also kept busy, making some great saves for his team.

“Just being there, just communicating and having the players actually be there.” said Peereboom in reference to what contributed to the Lions’ victory this past Wednesday.

Through teamwork, resilience, and spirit, the LHS Lions scored the last goal of the game, which allowed for the 11-1 win. After tonight’s victory, LHS will soon face off against the Standley Lake High Gators. The game will take placce at Standley Lake in Westminster at 5:00 PM on October 19.
