It’s been a pretty awesome fall season for the Lions! From early morning practices to late night games, all of our teams worked super hard and showed a ton of school spirit. Here’s how our fall sports wrapped up this year:
Cross Country
Cross country had an amazing season this year, and the boys team plus Sophomore Sophie Bailey got to compete in the 4A Jeffco State Cross Country meet! Bailey ran great and placed 61st overall. Senior Hank Chojnacki finished 50th, and Junior Tyler West came in close behind at 68th. Both Senior Annika Stutzman and Senior Reese Reynolds also represented the Lions in the 4A Unified State Championships. Cross country really had a fabulous season, and we’re so proud of both the girls and boys for all their hard work!
Boys Soccer
Soccer ended the season with an overall record of 2-13, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. The Lions fought hard every game and had some strong performances, especially from Seniors Alden Ray and Aaron Rushmore. The team ended up ranking 175th in Colorado, which is three places higher than last year! We are excited to see future improvements.
Volleyball
The Lady Lions wrapped up their season with an awesome performance at League and a super strong season overall. Varsity, JV, C-team, and D-team all worked really hard, and stayed positive for the entire season. Junior Sophia Rodriguez and Senior Emma Bird were both key players, along with many others. Volleyball brought the energy this year for sure!
Boys Tennis
The tennis team had a really solid season, finishing 8-3 overall and 6-2 in league. The team had a ton of great wins and showed lots of determination on the court. Some of the top players this year were Junior Tyler Griffin and Sophomores Enzo Balderrama and Nikhil Bagal. Awesome job, tennis!
Football
LHS Varsity Football finished their season 3-7 overall but ended things with a huge 52-6 win against Hinkley. The team made big steps forward this year, especially with new coaches and uniforms; it’s been a real rebrand. The Lions are now ranked 183 in Colorado and 40th in the 3A division, which is better than last year. Senior Chase Prueitt and Junior Kai Durica were two of the top players, but everyone gave it their all this season. Way to go Lions!
Flag Football
Girls Flag Football had an incredible second season, finishing 8-8 overall and 5-4 in the Jeffco 4A League. They had so many improvements from last year, and have developed this team and its spirit in such a short amount of time. Some of our top players were Sophomore Olivia May, Junior Ceirra Wilburn, and Sophomore Ava Palmer. But all of our players truly left it all out on the field, cheers to another great season!
All in all, it was a successful fall for Lions sports. Every team demonstrated hard work, dedication, and Lion Pride throughout the entire season. From big wins to tough games, our athletes gave it their best. Can’t wait to see what next season brings!
