The boys’ golf team dominates the course

On Monday, September 20, the top qualifiers on the boys’ gold team will be heading to the Country Club of Colorado to compete in their regional tournament. LHS has four boys moving on to regionals, including Noah Abramson, Grant Toner, Dane Price, and Jack Finch, but the entire team had a strong season.

“There’s been a lot of mix-up with the top spots this year,” said Toner.

So many teams in Colorado have members improving with a variety of levels, so there have been many shifts in who has been in the top five. The team overall has placed second in the state, with some students winning at individual tournaments.

“We came close to winning a couple tournaments, but Evergreen was too good,” said Toner.

The team started practicing back before school started, and it has paid off. The LHS boys did well at Homestead, with Abramson winning the tournament. Toner also shot an impressive 76 at the tournament at Westwoods.

“My favorite moment was probably winning the tournament and making a birdie on the last hole to win,” said Abramson.

On the horizon, the team is planning to do a team tournament to compete with each other in addition to qualifying for state. Finch and Abramson will be heading to state on October 4th and 5th.

“I’m excited for regionals this Monday,” said Abramson.

For the rest of the season, we can expect the boys to continue to improve and dominate the golf course.
