Last Saturday, LPS Stadium hosted over 10 different schools’ track and field programs, including all LPS high schools. After a long day of competing, here’s what some of the Littleton team has to say about the event, as well as future goals.

The superstar of the throwing team this year is senior Dalana Jakovijevic. Being the number one thrower in the state, including scoring top 10 discus scores in women throwing history for the state of Colorado, she’s accumulated quite the resume.

When asked about how the LHS Throwing team has been so far, Jakovijevic said, “We’ve been pretty good, it’s fun getting to know people and our team is bigger than it was last year.”

Dalana plans to go to school to focus more on her basketball career, and she’s also shown much experience throughout her career.

Focusing on track, LHS girls placed 4th overall and were the top 4A school. Boys placed 8th place overall, both scoring consistently and getting higher average scores. The team has seen a surplus of new faces, as the team has seemed to double compared to last year’s team.

Senior Ethan Bird, who’s been on track for 3 years, has a lot to say about his future goals for the track season. Mostly competing for dashes, sprint relays, and meter jumps, Bird is set to become a D2 football player.

“I’m looking forward to us doing well at Liberty Bell (league district competition) and for me to try and qualify for state,” said Bird.

He is excited to see the new athletes gain new experiences and for to play D2 football for college.

Junior Kaden Puller has been in track for his whole high school career so far and looks forward to doing track next year.

“I have some ambitious goals, but hopefully some school records. We got some tough competition, a lot of 5A schools, but I’d say at least top 10,” said Pullar.

His goal was reached by the end of the meet by LHS boys placing 8th overall.

LHS track and field seems to have a bright future with its new numbers and record-setting scores. Look forward to seeing how they’ll do at Liberty Bell.
