Treyton Fletcher takes on varsity basketball

Treyton Fletcher, the only freshman on Littleton High School’s varsity basketball team has had a fantastic season. With his dad being the basketball coach, it is no surprise he loves the sport.

When asked how long he has been playing basketball for, Fletcher stated, “I have been playing my whole life,”

He has played basketball for Colorado Premiere Basketball, which is a competitive club sponsored by Nike, focused on developing young basketball players’ skills. “I don’t know who I am going to play for [in regards to Club] yet this year, but I am excited,” said Fletcher.

When Fletcher was asked what his feelings are about being the only freshman on the basketball team, he was very humble with his answer. His response was that it is cool to have that opportunity and he enjoys it. “[Being on varsity as a freshman] doesn’t happen very often, so that is really exciting,” said Fletcher.

Although he is the youngest player on the team, he is still a starter. Fletcher has worked hard his entire basketball career to reach the point of success he has achieved now. “It feels like I have been a part of the Littleton basketball program for a while because my dad is a coach here. I know all of the guys and it’s awesome to be able to play with them,” Fletcher said.

Being ranked #252 in the state of Colorado as a freshman, LHS is lucky to have Fletcher as a key player on the team. His height reaching 6’3, Fletcher powers the team. When he was asked what the highlight of the season for him was, #34 said, “Honestly, it’s just been amazing getting to play and being able to start,”

It appears that Fletcher, along with other athletes this year, are happy this season has even occurred at all. Especially for this incredible freshman season. “It’s weird though, having a short season, because usually we have like 9 more games than this year. But I’m just happy we got to play,” Fletcher said.

Fletcher’s stats are well above the national average. As well as winning two “Player of the Game” awards just this season, he helped lead the Lions to victory in four of their games. We are excited to see Treyton’s performance on the LHS varsity basketball team for the following three seasons. Go Lions
