This new school year at Littleton High School, we are proud to welcome new teachers to the staff! They are all amazing people, one of them being our new math teacher: Dr. Kilic. He now teaches Algebra 1 and 2, both regular and honors. A few things about him: he was born in Croatia and lived there for a good majority of his life. He went to highschool and college there, where he got his Phd in Biophysics. He went to a graduate school in Northern Italy and then moved to the United States. There, he was a research assistant professor at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center. He published multiple research papers and review journals whilst working there. As you can see, he is very accomplished and highly educated.
He was a teacher at colleges for 7 years, teaching college level algebra, geometry, and calculus. He then transitioned to high schools for better benefits and because of his continued passion for education.
When asked about what inspired him to make the switch to high school, Kilic said, “I worked in the research for many years, but then it was hard to get grant funding, so I decided to become a teacher.”
This will be his 13th year teaching high school math! Some of his favorite hobbies include hiking, skiing, and playing tennis. Kilic also occasionally plays the guitar and sings. A fun fact about him is that he loves playing Kahoot. So if you ever get to be in his class, expect to find a fun, interactive environment full of learning games!
This summer he traveled to the Eastern coast of the US to visit friends and then flew over to Croatia to visit family.
When asked about what He is most excited about, Kilic said, “Working with kids so that they learn math, to be able to create new lessons, and having a lot of planning time.” And lets not of course forget Kahoot!
He was drawn to Littleton because of the amazing CTE programs we have here. The students are also very engaged in their education, and the learning is designed for all types of students. He is an amazing teacher as well as person, and we are so excited to welcome him into the Littleton High School community. There is no doubt that he will make this a great year of learning!
Stay tuned for our next updates on all of our fantastic new teachers, here at Lions Roar Now.
