What is the best place to go off campus for lunch?

Littleton High School has a unique opportunity for lunches and off hours. The school has an open campus which gives students the ability to go to close restaurants and stores when they have the free time.

Sometimes students don’t have time or the ability to pack a lunch from home or they just don’t want to get food from the cafeteria. Well lucky for us the neighborhood around our school provides many places for us to get food.

For those of us who don’t have cars or off hours which provide more time, the options for food are slightly more limited. Within the half hour lunch period we have enough time to go to Taco Bell, 7-Eleven, Chipotle, and King Soopers. But some of these options are better than others.

Taco Bell is the closest place for students to walk as it is only five minutes away from the school. The Chipotle, King Soopers, and 7-Eleven are all about seven minutes away. If students can plan correctly they can get to any of those places and back in time for their next class. But some of these locations are better than others.

There is one main problem with dining at Taco Bell and Chipotle. They both take time for the food to be made. There’s also the hassle of ordering and then having to wait.

If there is a large amount of customers then that prolongs your wait which can then eat up all your break time and you don’t have time to eat or rest before your next class. There is also just a general consensus that Taco Bell is not a very good restaurant.

7-Eleven is a better choice. It has reasonable prices and takes hardly any time at all to  get your food. One of the problems with this dining location is that there aren’t a lot of healthy options. It’s mostly chips, candy, and sugary drinks.

There is also the problem with slight safety concerns. In order to get inside the store students have to cross the sometimes crowded gas station. Drivers are always racing to leave which could put students that are not paying attention to their surroundings, at risk of injury.

In my opinion, I believe that King Soopers is the best place for students to go during their lunch breaks. The prices are reasonable and there’s no long wait to get anything. Because it’s a grocery store, there are many more options for food than the other local stores. There is nothing you could want that wouldn’t be stored.

It’s also a very convenient place to get Starbucks right near school. I don’t know about the rest of you, but when it’s cold outside I love going to Starbucks to get something warm. And the lines are almost always reasonable. King Soopers has the most positives and that is why I believe it is the best place to get lunch off campus.
