Levitt Pavilion, Denver’s open-air concert venue that offers a lineup of free shows, isn’t just a great place to hear music but a space that connects our community, including LHS students, to the heart of Denver’s creative space.
Levitt hosts over 50 free concerts per year with genres such as indie rock, Latin, jazz, hip-hop, folk, pop, EDM, and more. You can discover new music and local performers there without spending money, as well as catching big acts like Between Friends, Shovels & Rope, and Jeremy Zucker. For students, it’s a great chance to experience live music in a welcoming inclusive environment.
I recently attended a show for the band “Mo Lawda & The Humble”, which is a rock band from Philadelphia who came to Levitt just prior to releasing their fifth album. They created their band in 9th grade, similar to the age of our Littleton freshman, eventually gaining their big break during the freshman year of college. The band’s high school roots provide inspiration for our future musicians who want to professionally pursue creative careers.
Littleton’s thriving music programs, such as our choirs, band, and marching band, have always shown great appreciation to individual creativity that plays into the cohesiveness of a group. Levitt is an extension of those values. It’s a reminder that art isn’t just made in classrooms or school buildings; it thrives in parks and open fields and mountains and among people who enthusiastically listen to it.
