On Friday, September 11th, the Littleton Lions went head-to-head against the Englewood Pirates. The Lions played hard but by the end of the night, lost with a score of 0-56. However, during the game, there were some other highlights many students from Littleton showed up for this game, showing great support for our team with continuous chants and cheering, some even came with signs. We are very happy to see that there is a lot of support within our school community. Many parents and siblings also showed up for the team! Beyond the bleachers, those on the sidelines such as coaches, managers, media, and athletic trainers all showed fundamental support for the Lions which is very appreciated by all. It truly takes a whole Pride to make these football games happen.
Some highlights from the players include senior Zach Majeske, who provided a steady presence. He carried the ball 15 times for 55 yards and averaged 3.7 yards per carry. Way to go, Majeske, for sticking it out the whole game. Another player of the night we can highlight is senior Angel Jimenez, who also made an impact at wide receiver, recording one catch for 15 yards, showing his ability to make plays when given the opportunity.
Many players contributed in different positions, and the Lions fought really hard under the lights. But this was definitely a difficult game for the Lions, with their quarterback, senior Kai Durica, being out temporarily with a hand injury and some very tough competition from Englewood. Up next, our Lions head all the way to Pueblo to face the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs on Saturday, September 19th. We wish them luck and a so proud of all the work they have been putting in this season.
