Aggressive squirrels have been seen around Colorado

There’s aggressive squirrels in our state?! Apparently yes!

There have been squirrels chewing down power lines and being aggressive with humans all around Colorado, even in the Littleton area. People have been attacked by these squirrels, and it can be due to territorial behaviors, like being fed by humans, their homes being invaded, etc.

I interviewed a student, and asked if they’ve had any experience with aggressive squirrels.

The LHS student stated that she has had experiences with these squirrels. “A squirrel started to destroy my pumpkins while they were still on the vine, and they like to harass my cats.” she said. She also wanted to add that the squirrel has been breaking the tree branches, and the branches land on the powerlines and cause damage.

While these squirrel attacks aren’t at our school, the squirrels feed on leftover food from lunch out on the lawn, and they also might be fed by humans. So just be careful and watch out for some squirrels, and make sure not to give the squirrels food and encourage their aggression!
