Girls Soccer dominates at their Senior Night

On Thursday May 3rd the LHS girls soccer team celebrated their senior night and the last game of their season. Anika Bagal, Isa Roth, Grace Muench, Jaidyn Davis, Chandler Gleim, Devan Sanchez, and Jacy Chandler were celebrated that night.

The evening started with a celebration and a walk at 6:30. Their younger team members and the JV team created an aisle for the girls to walk down with their special guests. The game announcer told the people in the stands about the seniors, their favorite parts about the team, and their plans for next year.

The game started at 7 o’clock and got off to a somewhat slow start. By the end of the game the girls had finished 9 to 0 against Conifer High School. Each of the seniors playing on the field scored a point. The season finished with a great win, especially for the seniors.

Captain and Senior Isa Roth had a goal of improving the offense on the team this year. The team was quite successful with that goal. They scored against several difficult teams and even against Evergreen High School which the team hadn’t done for five years.

Senior Anika Bagal and one of the other team captains had many favorite parts about the team but her favorite was the fact that every girl worked really hard.

“Sometimes when we’re down by a lot at the half we’ll get goals in the second half because everyone is working really hard,” said Bagal.

Bagal and Roth have been playing soccer for at least a decade and they both hope to play for the club teams at their respective universities next year.

Roth had this to say to the future LHS soccer players,

“Enjoy it while you can, it goes by so fast. It feels like it was my freshman season literally yesterday. You won’t get another high school soccer experience.”

Congratulations to the girls soccer team on a successful season and good luck to the seniors moving on after graduation!
