Runners perform a handoff

LHS track team participates in City of Littleton Track & Field Championships 2024

On Friday, the Littleton High School track team competed against Arapahoe, Chatfield, Columbine, Dakota Ridge, Front Range, and Heritage high schools at Arapahoe High School. Though the Lions didn’t win this meet, we had numerous athletes place very well in a variety of events.

Spirits were high leading up to the meet. Senior Nina Marshall shared her feelings about the meet and track as a whole with us.

“I love track because of the strong bond the team has and it’s really fun to push yourself to be the best you can.”

Senior Jayla Sheffield placed first overall in girls shot put. Out of fifteen competitors, she was able to throw the farthest. Sheffield also placed eighth overall in girls discus.

Senior Kynan Harris placed high in boys shot put, placing fifth out of twenty six competitors. Like Sheffield, Harris also placed high in discus, finishing in fifth place.

We also had several runners place well in the track events. In the sprinting races, junior Max Durica placed second in the boys 200 meter dash and eighth in the boys 100 meter dash.

Though we didn’t win, everyone on our track team had a great time at the meet and enjoyed the events they participated in. Track is a great sport to make friends and there are events for everyone. If you’re interested, make sure to join the team next year.
