Mo Pannier, signing off

The only thing less believable than my high school career coming to an end, is that my time on the staff of the Lions Roar Now is ending too.  As I’m writing this, I will have spent three full years on staff, one as a writer and two as the Editor-in-Chief.

I will never forget the day I got the email that said I had been accepted into the News Production class for my sophomore year.  My dad had been driving me to school and I had been checking for that exact email.  When I saw the message, I knew I was going to carve out a place for myself in the school.  Even then, I had no idea just how right I was.

Over the last three years, so much has changed around the school and in the class.  Since I’ve been on staff, I have written nearly 50 articles, been part of about a dozen newscasts, and wrote a total of zero social media posts.  It’s crazy to see the difference in my first articles from my last, how much my interests and writing styles have changed.  I know I used to be so nervous during interviews and would triple check my articles before letting the editors see them but that was so long ago now that I hardly remember it.  Over the last three years, I feel I have been able to work with so many people and have learned so much more of the school than I had ever thought possible.

Being part of the Lions Roar Now has taught me so many valuable lessons, and I could not be more grateful for the opportunities and people.  As weird as it is to write this, I hope I’ve left the positive impact on the school and the newspaper that I’d always hoped I’d leave.
