Senior Dalana Jakovljevic reflects on her athletic accomplishments at LHS

Senior Dalana Jakovljevic has made a name for herself in athletics in her 4 years at Littleton. She has been a mainstay in the girls’ varsity basketball team and contributed to their stellar season this past year. Dalana isn’t only involved in Girls’ basketball, however. She is an extremely talented member of LHS’s track and field team, being one of the best girls’ discus and shotput throwers in the entire state of Colorado.

Despite only starting track in her junior year, she consistently ended up on the podium at highly competitive varsity track meets.

Jakovljevic reminisced on her favorite memories that she made at LHS. When inquired about her favorite memory from basketball she said,

“I would say watching my coach condition with us because he said he wouldn’t get any warnings and he did.”

When asked about her favorite memory from track, Jakovljevic responded,

“I would say watching the throwers come together over the season and being one another’s biggest supporters.”

When asked what her proudest accomplishment was at LHS, she responded

“Out of all the things that I have accomplished at LHS, I would say my proudest achievement would be being able to be a good role model for the students younger than me.”

Jakovljevic will be attending Snow College in Utah next year and will only continue playing basketball in college.

Jakovljevic talks about what she is looking forward to most about playing basketball at Snow College.

“I am looking forward to a new environment and just the challenges that are going to come with playing at a higher level because I know it won’t be easy and I also look forward to meeting and playing with new people,” said Jakovljevic.

Though she has much to look forward to in the future, she is still conflicted about having to leave Littleton. Jakovljevic reflects on what she will miss most about playing basketball here at Littleton.

“What I will miss most about playing here at LHS is all of the friends that I made while playing, I will miss the chemistry that we all had while we were on the court and I will of course miss all my coaches because they helped me through a lot.”

Dalana has been a very valuable member of the LHS community and has accomplished quite a lot in her four years here. She has a bright future ahead of her and we cannot wait to see what she is able to achieve in the years to come.
