TSA tackled the competition at state

This past weekend at the Denver Tech Center Marriott, our LHS TSA team competed at their state competition. The students competed very well with many moving on to nationals.

Thursday, February 24 was the opening ceremony for the competition where state officers introduced the competitors, schedules, and rules. The actual competition occurred on Friday, where students stole the show.

The giant Jenga competition was where students really shined. Ethan Pfister, Jay Landers, Grady Redding and Henry Reidy were split into two teams to compete in the bracket. The Jenga tournament lasted over five hours, with our two LHS teams making it to the top two, guaranteeing the traveling trophy.

When asked what his favorite part was, senior and president Ethan Pfister said with a pause, “Giant Jenga. The interviews were fun for webmasters and stuff, but I most definitely enjoyed it. One whole game lasted an hour, so it was very intense but very fun.”

The exciting weekend concluded with the closing ceremonies where the awards were given out. Seniors Jay Landers & Grady Redding placed 1st in coding & 1st in Technology Problem Solving, and Vinny Anderson placed 3rd in Essays on Technology & 3rd in Photographic Technology. Many students competed with elementary buddies and placed in the top three. Eight grader Gillian Steinhart placed 2nd in rubber band cars as well. Vince Lucas, Ethan Pfister and Caleb Schmitz got 3rd in Silent Movie.

“We did pretty well…we swept the competition, swept it completely,” said Pfister.

Nationals will take place over the summer in Texas, but until then the team will be soaking up the win.
