TV series’ and movies adapted from video games seem to recently have a bad rap yet end up staying fairly popular weeks after they’ve aired. Notably, the Netflix series Arcane (released 2021) was adapted from the popular video game League of Legends and is still talked about across social media.
What seems to make video-game-adapted movies so good is the solid base it has in world-building. Now all movie-makers have to do is sprinkle good character development, National Treasure-esque plot twists, a charming cast, and voila! A successful movie is created.
Uncharted follows protagonist Nathan Drake (not a descendent of the famous popstar but the English explorer who sailed around the world in the 16th century) and Victor “Sully” Sullivan (who makes an appearance in the game Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception) who team up through an inscrutable companion and start looking for the “greatest treasure never found”.

Tom Holland proves again he can act outside of Peter Parker’s legacy—playing Nathan “Nate” Drake, who’s suddenly thrown into the big leagues of exploration and thievery with mentor, friend, and brother-like figure Sully (played by Mark Wahlberg).
Uncharted is a good movie for a lazy Saturday with quality curveballs and excellent comical quips. Stay after the credits for a scene that’s sure to keep you in your seat for a sequel.
