What is “Pajama Monday”, and why is it necessary?

For those of you who need a little extra motivation to get through the rest of the semester, a new tradition is coming to LHS. This past Monday, November 8 many students were wearing pajamas. Every Monday for the rest of the semester will be Pajama Day to celebrate how we are almost done with our first semester.

The tradition was born in Mrs. Chase’s sixth-period language arts class. A few seniors, including Victoria Majeske, were inspired to designate every Monday for Pajama Day. The purpose of this day is to increase school spirit while also highlighting mental health.

Many students are struggling to pull through to the end of the semester. It has been challenging to come back to full-on school when we’ve had basically a year and a half of school online. We are back to having in-person school with collaboration and a normal workload. This has been a huge adjustment, especially for the underclassmen.

This leads to a lot of conflict between students as we all are finding a balance between all the stimuli. We are forgetting how to be at school together and embrace our differences. We are not remembering how to respect each other and our school, and fixing this starts small.

We all need a little boost to help us through the rest of the semester, and that’s where pajamas come in. It is important to focus on gratefulness and especially unity this time of year with Thanksgiving and the holidays around the corner.

It can be difficult not to complain about your hard classes, but I just want to say: It gets old when students repeatedly complain about the same classes and the same teacher. Unless there is a legitimate reason, suck it up and do the work that was assigned because you are the one that signed up for challenging classes. Putting a positive spin on some negative aspects of our life will really make the last weeks of this semester more enjoyable for everyone.

So in conclusion, it would be appreciated if everyone gets involved and wears their favorite flannel bottoms or any other pajamas every Monday!
