An interview with Mrs. Bents

Mrs. Sara Bents has been a math teacher for 4 years, starting during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When asked what got her interested in math, Mrs. Bents said,

“I got interested in math during high school because there were moments that it came easy to me, but then I was also challenged.  Math is fun because there is always a goal but there are many different routes you can take to get to the same goal.”

When asked if she always wanted to be a teacher, she said,

“I have wanted to become a teacher since I was 12 years old.  With that being said, I took my time to get my teaching license and worked many different jobs before I became a teacher.”

When she was asked about her favorite thing about being a teacher she said,

“I enjoy having new students each year and having them teach me different ways to look at problems.  When those moments happen within the classroom, it helps me become a better teacher”

When asked where she went to college, she said,

“I went to college at DU on a scholarship for basketball, and then I went to Metro State to get my teaching degree.”
