Farewell to Mr. Mathews

Along with many other staff members in the building, Mr. Jamie Mathews will be leaving LHS to pursue other opportunities. Mathews has been a great addition to the Lions community, he’s done many things during his three years here at Littleton. Not only has he taught Health, Innovative Fitness, Swimming, Strength & Conditioning I, Team Sports, and Court Sports, but this past year he was also a coach for Girls’ Flag Football, Boys’ Basketball, and Track & Field. Mr Mathews helped with Unified sports like Unified Bowling, Unified Basketball, and Unified Track & Field through our Innovative Fitness class. He also previously coached Boys’ Football at Littleton too.

Mathews says his favorite memory at Littleton High School would have to be the Spring Fling for the graduating class in 2021. Mathews says it was his first year here and it was also the “toggle and pivot” year where students had to do remote learning and then hybrid learning.

He said, “It was just so exciting and great to see everyone come back together again [during] the last few weeks and be able to have a celebration and graduate in person.”

Throughout his time here, he’s learned that, “regardless of who you are, what group you’re in or what your background is, we all need to look out for and take care of each other” Mathews says, “we’ve all gone through a lot together my past 3 years here with Covid and leadership changes and just many more things, but we are all stronger when we are together as a community.” What a beautiful lesson he’s been able to share with us.

Even though he’ll miss his experiences and interaction with peers here at LHS, he’s looking forward to getting to be back home around his people when he leaves Littleton High School.

Mathews has expressed he’s met amazing people here at LHS and made some amazing friendships that will endure regardless of distance apart but he’s also really missed being around family back home in Wisconsin

He’s excited to be a part of, “everything that they have going in their lives and especially getting to be an uncle to his niece and nephew.”

Mr. Mathews will be teaching next year at Sheboygan North High School in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, which is about an hour north of Milwaukee on the coast of Lake Michigan. While it’s upsetting to see him go, we wish the best for Mr. Mathews on his new journey.
