Girls and boys basketball defeat Alameda

Last night, January 10th, both girls and boys basketball competed against Alameda in the North Gym. The girls game was first, starting at 6:00 pm. The boys played shortly after at 7:30 pm.

The girls started strong, and maintained a consistent lead throughout the game. The game ended in a 61-17 win for the lions. Senior Jacy Chandler scored the majority of the points for the team, scoring numerous 3-pointers and layups. The victory was a true team-effort and an impressive display of the team’s skill.

The boys game was closer, with the first half ending in a 16-16 tie. However, the team broke ahead in the third quarter, leading with 32 points to Alameda’s 18. The game ended in a 40-28 victory for the lions.

Captains Senior Charlie Craver and Junior Sam Lasswell played hard, leading the team in points. Craver shares his opinion on the team’s performance.

“We played rough in the first half but we turned it around and started playing harder, it was good.”

Craver also shares what the team’s goals are as they continue their season.

“Winning more games, mostly home games.”

The team urges more students to attend games and join the student section to cheer on their fellow lions. The girls team’s next game is against Bear Creek on January 17th, and the boys team’s next home game is against Englewood on next Tuesday, January 16th. Come out and support basketball!
