Girls soccer loses to Dakota Ridge, celebrates seniors

On Thursday, April 20th, the girls soccer team played valiantly against Dakota Ridge. In the LPS Stadium, the seniors of the team, Captain Hailey Daharb and goalkeeper Monserrat Martinez were honored during their senior night celebration.

Although the team didn’t score, Dakota Ridge’s #9 ranking in the state and #2 ranking in the 4A division makes them a formidable opponent. Given the strength of this competitor, Littleton’s efforts during this game were strong and coordinated.

“I don’t think we’ll be making state this season but I think for having lost eleven players last season and getting basically a whole new team we have done pretty well,” said Daharb.

Additionally, roughly half the team’s current roster are underclassmen. In spite of this disadvantage, the team spirit was high and the girls demonstrated familiarity with one another, communication, and well-executed strategies.

The team’s spirit day, to dress like their coach, demonstrated the humor and bond of the players off the field, too.

“Leading the team this year has been a blessing. I loved getting to meet all the new freshmen and playing with the girls. I’m so proud of how far the team has come and cannot wait to see how they do next season,” said Daharb.
