Girls tennis celebrates senior night at home against Conifer

Last Thursday, the LHS girls’ tennis played Conifer at home. Many of their games this season have been at Harlow Park due to maintenance needed on Littleton’s courts, but fortunately, they were able to play at home for senior night. The girl’s tennis team has been having a great season so far and kept that streak going by winning all seven matches against Conifer (3 singles and 4 doubles).

Before the match and after a rendition of the national anthem by seniors Sophie Lisle and Bella Houck, the team celebrated all 17 seniors for the hard work they’ve put into playing for the team.

Underclassmen made the seniors signs and brought balloons and flowers to celebrate their accomplishments on the team.

Luci Brendlinger, one of the team’s most accomplished players, has played for the LHS team since her freshman year. Next year, she will be studying visual arts at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, and is looking forward to continuing playing tennis.

“I’m going to either try to walk onto the team or join club tennis,” said Brendlinger.

She encourages anyone interested in joining the team next year to take the leap and do it.

“Don’t be afraid. A lot of people think they’re going to be really bad, but you have to start somewhere in everything you do,” said Brendlinger.

Though senior Bella Houck has played tennis for many years, this was her first year on the LHS girls’ tennis team, and she has had a fun season playing for Littleton.

“My favorite memory was making signs as a team to support the boys’ lacrosse team,” said Houck.

Likewise, during last Thursday’s game, the boys’ lacrosse team was front and center in the crowd to cheer on the girls.

Her advice for anyone interested in joining the team next year was simple; “do it”.

League championships begin on Thursday, April 20. Good luck to the girls’ tennis team!
