LHS girls tennis team does their team cheer

Girls tennis season kicks off season

As the snow melts and winter comes to a close, the spring sports season begins. On Tuesday, March 5th, Littleton High School’s girls tennis team kicked off their season with a match against George Washington High School. This season, both Ms. Russell and Mr. Kennicutt are returning to coach. When asked about goals for the season, Russell shared some of hers.

“To have fun, to be competitive, and have the girls all support one another while growing together and getting better at tennis.”

The team has been practicing hard in the weeks leading up to now to prepare for the season ahead. With several more matches lined up for the coming weeks, excitement is building.

“I’m most excited to get better at tennis and to get to know all the girls on the team. It’ll be a fun season,” said senior Gabi Leonard.

This year, there are many seniors who are going into their final season on Littleton’s tennis team. Varsity player senior Sasha Maxwell who is going on her third season shared some of her feelings.

“I have mixed feelings. Of course I’m excited because I love tennis and I love the team, but knowing it’s my last season on the team is a little sad. I’m gonna finish strong, though.”

Tennis is a sport for everybody. If you prefer to play by yourself, there’s singles. If you prefer playing with a partner, there’s doubles. Tennis has something to offer for everyone, and there’s a place for you on the team. It’s never too late to start. If you’re at all interested, sign up next year and take your place on the courts.
