Lady Lionfish make a splash at their first meet of the season

The Lady Lionfish, the girl’s swim and dive team, had their first swim meet of the season today, going against D’Evelyn High School in a series of different events. There was a strong performance and spirit from the entire team in every event.

“Personally, I am really really excited to see a lot of the newer swimmers on the team improve. Because of the shortened season last year due to Covid, we didn’t really have a lot of time to get faster within the season,” said sophomore Caley Brungardt.

“I’m super excited for myself and others to see improvement, and I’m also very excited for the bigger meets at the end of the year,” said Brungardt.

The Lady Lionfish are set on becoming the league champions, getting to the top 10 at state, and succeeding in every practice, as well as becoming closer friends with each other as well.

“It’s just important to remember that progress isn’t always linear and that we need to celebrate every accomplishment and learn from each setback,” Abby Sawicki, a senior, commented when asked about words of encouragement for the team.

The girls are more than ecstatic about the future of their season, and their next meet is on this Saturday against Eaglecrest High School.
