LHS Lionettes make a comeback after a performance-lacking year

We all know them, they dance on the sidelines of football games, they recite fun cheers, they perform at halftime, they get the crowd involved in showing school spirit. So who are they? They’re the Lionettes of course, our Littleton poms team! Last year there weren’t many opportunities for them to perform, but this year, the team has been getting more attention.

Poms at League

“I would explain Poms as a combination between cheer and dance. We represent the school and we cheer on other sports,” said sophomore Djuna Strahl.

“We’re very supportive and we like to help each other. We cheer each other on throughout our dances and cheers,” said Strahl.

Recently, the Lionettes went to League. After competing, they placed 5th in the league with no deductions.

“I thought that a lot of the girls did very good at the competition … we were very nervous but overall I thought we did a really good job,” said senior Aleysha Gonzalez.

“I think we did pretty well. Of course, it could’ve gone better, but for it being our first competition I think we did pretty good,” said senior Zoe Durica who has done poms three of her four years at Littleton.

“I am actually very impressed with the amount of hard work and improvement that all of the girls have shown, each individually and as a team as a whole. I think it’s very empowering and it shows how much we want to help each other out and be successful as a team,” said Durica.

The Lionettes work hard and devote time to cheer on us Lions, so why don’t we do the same for them? Go Poms!
