LHS mock trial team makes state for the first time

Last Saturday, Littleton’s own mock trial B team made state for the first time in its history. In mock trial, students act out civil and criminal cases by arguing for the prosecuting and defending teams. The Littleton High School mock trial team has existed since 2019 and has since expanded into two teams.

“When we first started, we were laughably bad and we had low expectations. We all worked hard to get where we are even though we beat Kent and St. Mary’s and are still shellshocked about it,” said Junior Grant Hawerlander, a witness on the mock trial team that made state.

Senior Bella Borrego, an attorney and witness for team B said, “Our team is going to put in twice as much effort than the first time around and I really believe that it will pay off. Realistically, if we place in the top 5 of the state that would be such a huge accomplishment.”

The team is very adamant about thanking Senior and mock trial president, Virginia Frau and her mother for helping coach the team with her knowledge, insight, and experience for helping them get where they are.

The state competition is scheduled for March 3rd and 4th.
