Spring Break can’t come soon enough!

A consensus in this building seems to be, why can’t spring break just happen already? We’re all tired and we’re working hard, so it is high time for some time off.

Douglas County School District was off last week, Cherry Creek High School is this week– why do we have to wait for next week until we’re off?

Well, part of the reason is that LPS waits for the last full week of March in order to have our break. This year, it falls on the last full week of March… which is so far away. Hang in there, everyone. We’re all in this together.

I can’t help but think, after eleven long weeks in this semester, we’re all in need of something new. And junior Kassidy Shores is diving right into the unknown.

“I am going to Costa Rica for a week,” says Shores. “I think we’re going to do a bunch of tours and stuff, like snorkeling and ziplines and stuff. It’s my first time going there, so I don’t really know what to expect.”

But Spring Break is a great time to revisit old friends, too.

“I’m going to Florida with some friends from elementary school,” says junior Kaiden Hamilton. “We’re going to this cove place, and there are some dolphins there, I’ve heard, but I wasn’t actually involved in the planning, and I’m kind of just there for the ride.”

And maybe some familiar favorites.

“I am going to New York with my mom to visit some family friends. I know we’re going to go to the MET, I’m really excited for that, so that’s definitely what I’m most looking forward to. And bagels. And New York pizza,” said Sophomore Hayden Hopkins.

Members of the Band, Choir, and Orchestra are headed to Seattle to celebrate performing arts in Washington.

Freshman Johanna Shepela is among the students visiting Seattle.

“I am looking forward to hanging out with the community and performing the songs that we’re working on. I am so excited,” said Shepela.

And as we count down the days, that’s all we can be: excited.
