This past weekend, the LHS Boys’ Swim and Dive team stayed undefeated, dominating the Jeffco League Championships! Winning for the second year in a row, almost every A final was packed with LHS swimmers and many of them qualified for state.
Top three individual finishers include Senior Daniel Witke in diving (3rd), Sophomore River Hawkins in the 200 and 500 free (2nd in both), Junior Brennan Williams in the 200 IM (2nd), Sophomore Austin Hughes in the 50 free and 100 fly (2nd in both), and Senior Gabe Montoya in the 100 back (3rd). On top of this, the 400 free relay of Austin Hughes, Brennan Williams, Caden Luther, and River Hawkins took second, and the 200 free relay of Austin Hughes, Luke Morris, Max Loving, and Brennan Williams took first place and became league champions!

One of the most memorable parts of the meet was when all four qualifiers in the 500 free final got state cuts! When this happened, everyone was screaming and shouting for their teammates, and it was one of the most electrifying parts of the finals.
This win also marks the first time in school history that the boys and girls swim teams are both the reigning Jeffco League Champions!
When asked about making school history, Head Coach Andy Farner said, “It feels great to win. I’ll never say otherwise but to see each team come together and achieve these great results really means a lot. The coaching staff made a goal of making sure we maximized and actualized the full potential of these teams and the athletes responded valiantly. Being League Champions is a wonderful achievement but the real victory here is the character and culture of these teams. These are top-notch student-athletes and everyday they raise the bar and empower one another. It has been an honor to coach both of these teams and we look forward to winning more League Titles next year!”
As the state meet approaches, the boy’s look to finish the season strong! State will take place this Friday and Saturday, and will be exciting to see how they round out their historic season.
