The Emmy awards occurred this week, and these are a few of the series that the judges think you should watch this year. From comedies to dramas, these were the best of the best from each category.
Best Drama Series: The Pitt
This first Emmy winner is set in a Pittsburgh hospital, where Dr. Michael “Robby” Rabinovitch is working a 15-hour shift in the emergency room, which is spread out through the entire season. It goes through the challenges and high pressure of working in an ER, plus the extra battle of being underfunded. You can watch the story unfold on HBO, Hulu, YouTube, YouTube TV, The Roku Channel, and Sling.
Best Comedy Series: The Studio
The next show on the list is The Studio. The Studio follows the president of Continental Studios, Matt Remick, as he discovers more about the film world. This cinephile has to equal out his passion for films with the corporate commands. Between the chaotic moments and the silly scenes, this may be the show for you. You can view The Studio on Apple TV and Prime Video in your own home theater.
Best Limited or Anthology Series: Adolescence
This Netflix Original Series is a wild story about a little boy. Jamie Miller is a 13-year-old boy accused of murdering a girl in his school. When the police and therapists try to talk to Jamie about it, he gets very upset about the topic. As the mystery unfolds, piecing together the puzzle leads to what really happened. Solve the puzzle on Netflix.
Best Reality Competition Program: The Traitors
The Traitors is all sorts of crazy! The contestants are brought to a castle where they must complete challenges to stay in the game and win the big cash prize. Pretty easy, right? Wrong! There are two groups of people competing; the Faithfuls and the Traitors. The Traitors have to eliminate a Faithful every night and the Faithfuls try to banish them. The drama, the games and the eerie theme asks the question: who will prevail? Find out on Peacock.
Best Talk Series: The Late Show With Stephen Colbert
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert is one of many talk shows, but one of the best talk shows. The host, Stephen Colbert, is very funny, cracking jokes whenever the conversation gets slower than usual. It’s always good to hear the different perspectives on many topics, and Colbert’s show is the perfect way to do that. The show, however, did get cancelled, so you can watch the last episodes coming out this season and stream the past ones. You can do this on Pluto TV, Paramount, The Roku Channel, YouTube, YouTube TV, CBS, and Prime Video.
Best Scripted Variety Series: Last Week Tonight With John Oliver
The best scripted series was Last Week Tonight With John Oliver. This show brings up different political topics, along with some funny stuff to make life a bit more fun. John Oliver is able to talk about these things in detail and with humor, which can be a very tricky task. Find this new source of news on HBO Max, Amazon Prime, The Roku Channel, Sling, YouTube, YouTube TV, Hulu, and Apple TV.
Best Reality Special: SNL 50: The Anniversary Special
The award for the Best Reality Special went to the very special Saturday Night Live 50 anniversary feature! This show brought back a few old members of the cast, some old sketches, and even old hosts. With new and old ideas and cast members combined, this is the perfect thing to celebrate everything that has happened during the show’s time on the air. The show has grown so much since the start, which is something they should be very proud of. Watch the special’s replay on Peacock, Prime Video, and YouTube.
Overall, there were some really great winners this season. Happy streaming!
