On February 5th, 6th, and 7th, the Lady Lionfish traveled to the Arvada Aquatic Center for the biggest Swim & Dive meet of the year (besides State). The swimmers competed on Friday and Saturday, with the divers competing on Thursday. The meet was a smashing success, with Littleton earning the title of League Champions for the second time consecutively!

“Everyone was super happy and energetic, we all jumped in the pool at the end as a cute League tradition.” said Junior Bea Ingels, a State qualifier.

The meet was positively full of PRs and State times, so here’s a compilation of some of the League spotlights:

On the dive side, LHS painted the top 10 purple and gold, with Sophomore Cora Boyd getting 4th, Senior Maddie Roth getting 5th, and Sophomore Claire Gibbons getting 6th.

For the swim events, the Lions really showed up all across the board. In the Freestyle events, some notable performances included Senior Johanna Shepela who got 2nd in the 200 and 100 Free, Ingels who got 2nd in the 50 Free as well as 3rd in the 100 Free, Junior Sarah Henderson who got 3rd in the 50 Free, Freshman Phia Stricker who got 4th in the 500 Free, Sophomore Lara Leonard who got 3rd in the 500 Free, and Sophomore Lucy Peterson who got 4th place in the 100 free.

Additionally, Freshman Tabitha Miscall won the 200 IM followed by Senior Ella Peterson who got 2nd and L. Peterson who got 4th. In the 100 Fly, E. Peterson got 1st, Junior CC Smith in 3rd, and Sophomore Olivia Grinfeld with 4th. Not only that, but the 200 and 400 Free relays both got 1st place, with the 200 Medley relay getting 2nd.

Over 15 swimmers qualified for State, with even more going to fill out the State team. Two of these State athletes are Freshman Bevan Radke and Senior Claire Ingham, members of Unified Swim.

As a whole, League swim was a representation of all of the hard work and dedication the swimmers put into the season.

“That is genuinely the hardest working group I have ever met. They are all really engaged and try really hard,” said Ingels about her team. “In general, it’s just a great, tight-knit community of people.”

Congratulations swimmers, and good luck at State!
