Dominos vs Costco

Domino’s vs. Costco: Battle of the school pizzas

Here at Littleton High School, we have Domino’s Pizza on Fridays. This is a fun alternative to the regular meals we normally have. However, since we can get Domino’s Pizza on Fridays, why wouldn’t we be able to get pizza from anywhere else? I offer up the idea of getting Costco pizza rather than Domino’s.

Let’s just think about it for a minute. The Domino’s pizza has, on average, 8 slices, with medium-sized pieces. On the other hand, Costco pizzas have, on average, 12 pieces that are usually quite big, you might even say massive.

Now, let’s look at the cost. For Domino’s, the school lunch price for each pizza is between $5.99 and $7.99, averaging around $6.99. And for a Costco pizza, it costs $9.95 for each pizza. Now this seems like more money at first, but there is more bang for your buck where Costco is concerned. If you bought 30 pizzas from Domino’s, you would have a total of 240 pieces of pizza. If you were to buy 30 from Costco you would get 360, but then you have to consider how big the slices are for Costco. Because, if you truly wanted to, you could put each of those pieces in half, giving you 720 pieces, double the amount of pizza you get for the same price.

And then thinking about taste. Let’s face it, Costco pizza tastes far better than Domino’s pizza.

However, there are a few more health benefits with Domino’s pizza. The school lunch program that Domino’s runs makes sure that the pizza they give has blanched ingredients, and compared to Costco’s, it is significantly healthier than the greasy alternative. So there are multiple pros and cons when it comes to choosing the best food option that is inclusive, healthy, and affordable. Does this mean that we will immediately get Costco pizza on Fridays now? No, but I hope that this encourages people to think about it some more!
