This past Thursday, the LHS Orchestra performed their Spring Concert, showing off their recent work. Their setlist included Fire in the Forge by Ted Allen, Serenade for Strings: Finale by Tchaikovsky, Waltz No. 2 by Shostakovich, and Habanera and Les Toreadors from the opera Carmen. One of the most notable performances was Serenade for Strings because of how synchronized and beautiful it sounded together. One thing that stood out throughout the performance was how in certain parts of the piece, they would pluck the strings to make a sound that sounded familiar to rain. The ending was powerful and brought the whole song together in a very grand manner.

Newton Middle School also performed their own music, including Battlesong by Randal D. Standridge, Aztec Dance by Michael Story, and El Toro by Don Brubaker. This orchestra was very entertaining to watch and hear. All of the music they played was upbeat and exciting, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats the whole time.

In the end, the concert was a beautiful performance of all of the strings, from violin to bass. Both the LHS orchestra and the Newton Orchestra played in the final song, Rosin Eating Zombies from Outer Space by Richard Meyer, bringing the talents from both schools together.
